ADULT MINISTRY
Effective September 2025, the Mission & Justice committee and ARTF were consolidated into one group, reporting directly to Session, and was named "Faith and Action.” The work of this group will focus on Central’s call to serve at the intersections between anti-racism and justice for vulnerable people. More than simply overseeing the work of a few small groups, this new committee will take initiative for creating and shepherding opportunities for the Central congregation to plan, learn, reflect, and act on God’s justice in our city and beyond.
A Lenten Book Study.
This year for Lent, we'll be studying James Cone's The Cross and the Lynching Tree. Influenced by Dr. King and a long history of Black liberation theology, Cone draws a clear analogy between the lynching tree, a tool of violence and terror, and the Roman cross upon which Jesus died. How do the American and Biblical experiences speak to one another and draw us into practices of liberation? The book study will meet on Sundays in person after worship beginning February 22nd, and Mondays at 7 pm over Zoom beginning February 23rd. If you need a copy of the book, RSVP to the main office by February 9th.

Bible Study
FRIENDSHIP ROOM - SUNDAYS AT 9:30 A.M.
This class offers an opportunity to get to know a small group of Central people and to share perspectives on the Bible passages of the day. On most Sundays, the focus is on the passage that will be the text for the sermon that morning. Everyone is always welcome on any Sunday, with no preparation needed. The spirit of the group is to learn from each other and listen to differing views with interest and respect.
